At GameBetReview we treat gambling as entertainment, not as a way to make money. If gambling stops being fun, this page is the first place to come — it lists the Malaysian helplines that can help today, the self-help tools every licensed operator must offer, and a short self-check you can run on your own play.
In immediate distress? Call Talian HEAL 15555 (24/7, free, confidential) or Befrienders KL at +603-7627 2929. If life is in danger call 999.
Age restriction
GameBetReview is intended only for adults aged 21 and above. Online gambling is restricted to adults in every jurisdiction we cover. By using this site you confirm you meet the legal age requirement where you live and that gambling is permitted under your local law.
Self-assessment — am I gambling safely?
Honest answers to the questions below are a quick way to spot the early signs of a problem. If you answer “yes” to two or more, please use the self-exclusion tools described further down this page and consider contacting one of the helplines listed.
- Have you gambled longer or with more money than you planned in the last 30 days?
- Have you tried to win back money you lost (“chasing losses”)?
- Have you borrowed money — from family, friends, credit cards or payday loans — to fund gambling?
- Have you hidden the amount you gamble from a partner or family member?
- Has gambling caused you to miss work, lose sleep or skip meals?
- Do you feel anxious, restless or irritable when you cannot gamble?
- Has anyone close to you expressed concern about your gambling?
A more in-depth assessment is available from BeGambleAware and the Problem Gambling Severity Index tool.

Player-side safer gambling habits
Before your next session:
- Set a deposit cap. Decide the maximum you can lose this week before you log in. Use the operator’s deposit-limit tool to lock it in — see the next section.
- Set a time cap. A 60-minute session timer is a good baseline. Most licensed casinos can pop a “reality check” reminder every 30 or 60 minutes.
- Never chase losses. If you lose a planned bankroll, the session is over. Increasing stake size to “win it back” is the single biggest predictor of harmful play.
- Don’t gamble to escape. If you log in because you’re stressed, upset, lonely or after drinking — close the tab. Try again tomorrow.
- Keep a separate bankroll. Use a dedicated payment card or e-wallet for gambling. Do not gamble with rent, bill, education or family money.
- Take 24-hour breaks at least once a week, and a 7-day break at least once a month.
Self-exclusion tools at licensed operators
Every operator we list on GameBetReview is required to offer the following self-control tools. If yours doesn’t, that is a serious red flag and we encourage you to switch operators (and email us at suretester00@gmail.com so we can re-audit them).
- Deposit limits — daily / weekly / monthly caps you set yourself. Reductions take effect immediately; increases must wait at least 24 hours.
- Loss limits — cap the maximum you can lose in a window, not just what you can deposit.
- Session-time limits and reality-check pop-ups every 30 or 60 minutes.
- Cooling-off period — a temporary lock of 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days. Account is restored automatically when the period ends.
- Self-exclusion — a longer block (6 months, 1 year, 5 years or permanent). Cannot be reversed before the period expires; the operator must also block marketing emails / SMS during the exclusion.
- Account closure — the strongest option. Permanently closes the account and forfeits any remaining bonus balance.
To activate these tools, log in → Account → Responsible Gambling (the exact menu name varies). If you cannot find the option, live-chat support is required to help you set it within minutes.
Helping someone else
If a friend or family member is gambling unsafely:
- Talk privately and without judgement. Focus on observed behaviour (“I noticed…”), not labels.
- Do not lend money to cover gambling losses — it almost always funds further losses.
- Help them call Talian HEAL 15555 or Befrienders KL with you.
- If the person is the family’s primary income earner, consider protecting joint finances (separate accounts, removing credit card access) while they get support.
- The Gambling Therapy Friends & Family chat is free and run by trained counsellors.
Our commitment
GameBetReview will never publish content that suggests gambling is a way to make money, recommends “guaranteed” systems, or targets readers under 21. Every operator we recommend must offer the self-exclusion tools listed above. Read our full editorial policy and how we review for more on the standards every recommendation must meet.
If you ever feel a recommendation on this site put you at risk, please write to suretester00@gmail.com and we will re-audit the operator.
